Understanding Emotions
A Dive into how I understand my emotions with my Natal and Human Design Chart
I have been thinking about what my natal chart and Human Design have helped me understand about myself.
I feel a lot. I just do not always feel it out loud.
There is a difference.
My Scorpio Rising with Saturn sitting in the 1st house is not exactly built for emotional jazz hands. I am not walking around handing people the director’s cut of my nervous system just because they need proof that something touched me. Saturn at the front door says, “State your business.” Scorpio is already looking at you like you left fingerprints at the scene.
I remember once my abusive ex-husband screamed, “Nothing I do hurts you!” It did hurt. I just didn’t show it the way he expected me to.
So yes, I can look composed while something is hitting me hard. I can be hurting and still speak clearly. I can be processing ten layers of meaning while my face is giving “customer service at the DMV.”
That does not mean nothing is happening. It means plenty is happening and I have enough internal structure to keep it from spilling all over the floor.
My Moon is in Libra at 0 degrees, in that 11th/12th house area, so my emotions do not always come through as a dramatic eruption. They go through analysis first. I feel the imbalance. I feel the tone shift. I feel the weird little energetic receipt someone thought they crumpled up and threw away. Then my mind starts weighing it. What was said? What was meant? What was avoided? What pattern is repeating? Where is the imbalance?
That Libra Moon wants emotional proportion. It wants the truth, but it also wants the truth placed correctly. My Capricorn Mercury and Neptune add another layer because I am usually trying to give language to something that started as a feeling, symbol, memory, dream, or body signal. I do not just want to say, “I feel bad.” I want to know what the feeling is made of, where it came from, what it is attached to, and whether it is mine or something I picked up from the room.
Then you add the Leo Midheaven and people see the presentation. They see the composed version. The one who can explain the thing, make the point, organize the chaos, and still look like she has a plan all along. That Leo MC knows how to put a face on the work. The public may see the performance of control before they ever see the private weight behind it.
Human Design says the same thing in another language.
I am a Pure Generator with Sacral Authority. My body knows before my mouth catches up. I can feel a yes, a no, a pull, a resistance, a charge, or a complete “absolutely the hell not” before I have the perfect sentence for it.
The 2/4 profile explains a lot too. The 2 needs space. The 4 needs real connection. So I can be private and people-oriented at the same damn time, which sounds annoying until you realize it is just an operating system. I need time alone to process, and I also need the right people around me. I am not built for constant access, but I am built for correct access.
That part has been one of the biggest realizations for me.
Some people only trust emotion when it performs for them. They need tears, collapse, shaking hands, oversharing, messy posts, and visible distress before they believe something mattered. If you stay calm, they assume you are detached. If you explain clearly, they assume you are unaffected. If you do not fall apart in front of them, they act like the wound must not be real.
That is a very lazy way to read a person.
Some people process in private because their interior world is full, layered, and specific. Some people need to sit with the feeling before they can speak on it. Some people have to let the first emotional wave pass so they can figure out what is actually true instead of just what is loud.
I have stopped turning my pain into a court exhibit for people who only believe in what they can see. My emotional reality does not need a witness stand.
(This transit Venus in Cancer is really doing a number on my word choice today haha).
I can feel something completely and still keep it to myself until I know what I want to do with it. I can look calm in public and be rearranging furniture in my soul when I get home. I can be hurt without auditioning for the role of “hurt person.” I can be private without being cold. I can be composed without being untouched.
That is what my chart keeps showing me.
Scorpio Rising protects the gate. Saturn in the 1st gives the gate rules. Libra Moon weighs the emotional truth. Capricorn Mercury gives it structure. Leo Midheaven decides how much of it gets seen. My Generator body responds when something is correct, and my 2/4 profile reminds me that I do not owe everyone access just because they are curious.
I feel privately and when I share it, I want it to come through with accuracy. I want it to have gone through the whole house first: the basement, the attic, the locked room, the room I forgot was there, and probably one closet with a childhood memory I thought I forgot about it (I wish those memories wouldn’t pop up uninvited though…).
By the time I hand it to you, it is usually not raw material anymore. It is something I processed, shaped, understood, and chose to give.
Sure it seems cold. I promise you it’s not. I’ve been sharing my emotional vulnerability my whole life if only people would listen and stop expecting it to show up a certain way.
